Zoe Hives’ Australian Open singles main draw bid is still alive after comfortably defeated Kaylah McPhee in the quarter-final of the AO wildcard playoff.
Hives advances to the semi-final after thrashing McPhee, who is ranked 359 in the world, 6-2, 6-0.
The match was scheduled to be played on Thursday, before wet weather saw it delayed until Friday.
Even Friday was met with showers, but once the girls got out on-court, Hives wasted no time getting back into the change rooms.
Hives will take on Astra Sharma on Saturday after the young gun caused an upset in her quarter-final.
Sharma defeated Arina Rodionova 6-1, 6-1.
Rodionova was the number one seed in the tournament, the former Australian Open quarter-finalist was widely expected to make her way through to the Australian Open main draw.
But it was 23-year-old Sharma that enjoyed victory in under an hour.
In the other semi-final, Kimberly Birrell will take on Ellen Perez.
