Zoe Hives’ sensational return to the court continued on Sunday as she triumphed in the final of the Canberra International.
The victory gives Ballarat’s best tennis product two titles from her last three tournaments – a great effort after the mid-year injury hurdle.
Hives knocked off some impressive names on her way to victory, she beat 156th ranked woman in the world, and fellow Australian young gun, Priscilla Hon is straight sets in the second round. Hives then beat seasoned Aussie Olivia Rogowska in the final – 6-4, 6-2.
In her other three matches she showed plenty of fight, coming back from one set to love down on all three occasions.
Hives missed three months during the middle of the year with bone stress on her rib.
After battling through the difficult setback, the 22-year-old is finding top form and looking the goods ahead of the Australian summer.
Ballarat will be hoping she returns to defend her title at the Ballarat Open in December.
